Thank You

Today's Note From Jo Ann:

While the Republican National Committee's Women's Coalition, the Pink Elephants, will be an active, continuing coalition, the day after the historic election of 2008 is a good time to evaluate our effectiveness.

Naturally we are all extremely disappointed in the results of the presidential election.  While losing seats in congress as expected, the losses are not as extensive as the media kept hyping.

Now we must turn our attention to the elections in the future and recovering the majority in congress, retaining and increasing our Republican leadership in our states and strengthening our representation in our local communities.  We must be sure our goals move us in that direction.

Our goals as we worked over the past few years to expand our women's coalition included keeping everyone fully informed on the issues as they developed throughout the presidential campaign, perfecting our communications ability, facilitating more involvement by coalition members in campaigns in their states and communities as well as training and encouraging Republican women to run for elective office.

Through use of weekly (and sometimes daily) Pink Elephant Talking Points, monthly conference calls with key political leaders, a website including items of interest and blogs,  a Facebook page for Republican women which has grown significantly, great volunteer involvement in the campaigns and eleven regional Republican Women's Leadership Conferences, we have made progress towards our goals.

You have made it happen.  You have participated in the conference calls, used the Pink Elephant Talking Points, taken leadership positions in campaigns in your state, helped staff victory centers across the country and, in many instances, run for office.

A simple "thank you" does not fully express my appreciation of all you have accomplished.  Individually and collectively you have made amazing contributions.

We seek your input in how to improve RNC's Women's Coalition, the Pink Elephants, to better serve you and Republican women countrywide.

Please send us your comments and suggestions.  Your continued involvement is essential to the success of Republican leadership in the future.
